The development trend of drug flexible packaging

drug flexible packaging has developed rapidly in recent years. This kind of packaging has rich material selection (material structure includes paper/plastic, plastic/aluminized plastic, paper/aluminum foil/plastic and plastic/aluminum foil/plastic, and the barrier performance increases in turn), good physical and chemical properties, advanced technology, high degree of automation, short production cycle, low energy consumption, low production cost, good sealing Convenient storage and transportation can improve the safety and quality assurance of drugs, shorten the production cycle, reduce process pollution, extend the shelf life (up to years), reduce storage and transportation costs, facilitate sales and use, and make drugs more beautiful and economical

in terms of the development of flexible packaging for drugs, its trends are as follows:

1. "Green" packaging. The so-called "green" packaging refers to the packaging that is harmless to the ecological environment and human health, and the packaging materials can be recycled. After the implementation of ISO1400 standard, the development of "but green" packaging has become a necessary work

2. Less measurement packaging. Less measurement packaging requires that the inner packaging of drugs has the function of standard meter to better complete the target task quantity scheduled at the beginning of the year, including the use of packaging materials with measurement function and one-time dosage packaging. The latter is a common less measurement packaging. The United States has popularized one-time packaging in 1990

3. environmental conditioning packaging. The so-called "environmental regulation packaging" is to change the gas state in the packaging and ensure the quality of the packaged products for a long time, such as the packaging sealed with desiccant (oxygen getter) and the packaging of air replacement (nitrogen filling, etc.). This form of packaging will continue to be popular

4. Serialized packaging. Serialization of drug packaging means that drugs produced by the same manufacturer are packaged in a unified and similar packaging element pattern. For example, blister packaging can achieve series packaging through the change of plate size and relevant elements of aluminum foil screen

5. High barrier packaging. High barrier packaging is to use materials with excellent barrier properties to prevent gas, water vapor, odor, light, etc. from entering the packaging, so as to ensure the effectiveness of drugs. The application of high barrier packaging has been very common in Europe and Japan, and the development of China is slow

6. "Sterile" packaging. "Aseptic" packaging refers to the sterilization of packaged drugs in a "sterile" environment by using instantaneous ultra-high temperature sterilization technology. Engineering plastics is a method of packaging with the most widely used organic high molecular materials, and multi-purpose composite materials are packaged through different forms of extrusion and composite molding. It has the advantages of better maintaining the drug content, extending the shelf life, saving energy, reducing packaging costs, and easy to realize environmental protection packaging

7. Antibacterial packaging. It is impossible to be absolutely sterile in the production and packaging of any dosage form. The use of antibacterial polymer packaging materials for drug packaging can inhibit bacteria. It is mainly used for the fixation and repair of bone and cartilage pollution, prolong the shelf life of drugs and ensure the safety of drugs, which will become one of the directions of drug soft packaging

8. nano packaging. This is one of the applications of nanotechnology and nano materials in the pharmaceutical field. The development of nano paper, polymer based nanocomposites (pnmc), nano adhesives and nano antibacterial packaging will open up a new field for the flexible packaging of drugs
